Cafe Après

Cafe Après will sell hot chocolate with marshmallows you can toast on the cafe fires, excellent coffee and winter soups with crusty bread.

Sidney Nolan: Inferno

Come upstairs at CMAG to experience the creative fire of Sidney Nolan’s huge nine-panel painting.

Children from 4 to 10 years of age are always catered for at CMAG’s MakerSpace.

CMAG Reader Space

Drop into CMAG after iceskating and enjoy CMAG’s ReaderSpace where you will find winter themed children’s literature and a cosy reading nook decorated with cascading snowflakes.

Back to the Boombox Exhibition

Get your feet moving and warm yourself up this winter with CMAG’s quirky exhibition of a private collection of boomboxes, owned by Canberra local, Kinloch Kilby.

School Holiday workshop for teens: My journey Your journey

To celebrate NAIDOC Week, CMAG invites teenagers to learn from contemporary Aboriginal artist Sarah Richards in a studio workshop.

Crafty Christmas in July at Civic Library

A cheeky Corgi story, creative craft, and Christmas cheer! Do you love all things Christmas? I mean really, who doesn’t? Join Jacinta Froud and her elves for a jingly storytime reading followed by some Christmas themed creative crafts and cheer.

Story Time & Craft with Irma Gold at Civic Library

Join us for a super fun story time session with award-winning author Irma Gold as she reads us some of her moving and beautifully written picture books

Urinetown The Musical

In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage caused by a 20-year drought has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. This hilarious musical satire takes the piss out of the legal system, capitalism, bureaucracy, and musical theatre itself!

Whether a Canberra winter is your idea of heaven or hell, come to CMAG and explore the idea of paradise through CMAG’s striking exhibition, Sidney Nolan: Search for Paradise.

Fire & Ice in Civic Square

Fire and ice will fill Civic Square for the Winter school holidays. A huge fire pit will glow in the centre of the Square, and fire barrels for toasting marshmallows will surround the ice rink and Cafe Après. Civic Square will feature ice sculptures during the weekends of Winter in the City.

The Guilty Feminist

Less of podcast and more of a global phenomenon, The Guilty Feminist, hosted by Deborah Frances-White and featuring world class guests, is part comedy, part deep dive discussion and part activism.
